Equipment required for craft operators on internal waters: Estuaries, rivers and dams.

Notice to all Skippers

The following details must be provided:

A certificate of competency for skippers. 

Vessel to carry safety equipment

Must be marked with a traceable number on equipment and trailer.

Items not debatable:

a.    SABS approved live jackets

b.    All round white light, port and starboard light.

c.    Fire extinguishers within date.

d.    One motor only set of oars.

e.    Bailing buckets.

f.    Anchor, 3m chain and 50m of anchor rope.

g.    Buoyancy certificate. Min of 30% of vessel weight but must be able to float. Must be available for inspection.

h.    Torch for night operations.

i.    Numbering of vessel and trailer.

j.    Certificate of seaworthiness
